I have a EOS 400D uk version I have no AF Lens is good, checked for the broken plastic pin and insecure focus screens but all looks in tact.
I thought I would flash with the latest firmware have downloaded 1.1.1 along with instructions . Copied file to CF root using card reader then run exe file from root to expand it. Inset CF in body switch on. I don't get any option to upgrade from xxxx to xxxx. In the set up 2 menu my last line is Sensor Cleaning Auto: There is no Firmware Ver. Line The Manual CEL-SF8HA211 2006 on page 157 lists Firmware Ver Select to update the firmware reference page - Does anyone know if there is a firmware version that removes the option to upgrade in the future, or access via a hidden key press to a firmware sub menu or any other way to confirm my firmware version and flash it. |

Not sure about 400D, but on 300D common procedure would be to have the expanded firmware file in the root of your CF card. May be (just a guess) this should be the only file on a card. At least they suggest to format the card and put the firmware file there. Try deleting all other files and directories from your CF and have a new firmware upgrade file as the only file on the card. Again, it's just a guess.
